Dates Extended! New Deadlines for Tax Audit and ITR

GST - Tax - TDS - MCA

If you’ve ever worked on your tax returns in a rush, you know how stressful those last days can feel. Luckily, there’s some good news this year—especially for students or anyone managing accounts that need to be audited.

What’s Happened?

The tax department has just given everyone who needs an audit a little more breathing room. You now have extra days to file two big things: your Tax Audit Report and your Income Tax Return (ITR).

Here are the new dates:

  • You can submit your Tax Audit Report by 10th November 2025.
  • You can file your ITR (for audit cases) by 10th December 2025.

That means more time to double-check, fix any mistakes, or just avoid the last-minute panic.

Who Gets More Time?

If your business, partnership, or professional practice has to get its books audited, this extension is for you. Most students won’t need to stress if they’re not in an audit case, but it’s always good to know the rules!

Why Did the Government Do This?

Tax work isn’t always easy. Many accountants and business owners asked for more time because technical problems and extra work made it tough to finish everything by the usual deadline. Even some courts said, yes, these folks deserve a break. Thankfully, the government listened and stretched the deadlines.

Where’s the Official Proof?

Don’t just take anyone’s word for it. The notice is official and public. It’s called CBDT Circular No. 15/2025, and you can always check it yourself:

Here’s a Quick Table

What’s Due?Old DateNew Date
Tax Audit Report31 Oct 202510 Nov 2025
ITR (Audit Cases Only)31 Oct 202510 Dec 2025

So, what should you do? Use your extra days wisely. Check your work. Make sure everything is correct so you don’t get a surprise later. And if you’re not sure what applies to you, ask a teacher, a parent, or a professional.
